Lessons from Beijing

With the Beijing Olympics sufficiently behind us enough to reflect, there are a number of things to be learned.  Among them:

  1. Men’s beach volleyball should definitively NOT adopt the uniform of women’s team.
  2. The Opening Ceremony planners for London 2012 are feeling under the gun.
  3. The widely publicized ticket scams of Beijing reveal the value of “direct package” options.

Literally thousands of people were heartbroken, embarrassed in front of clients, and enraged at scams and failure to deliver in Beijing.  At least one law firm has set up shop on the Internet to focus on aiding victims (www.beijingticketscam.com).  News stories and legal filings here in the States reveal stories of people being told the day before of counterfeit tickets and the inability of “legitimate” companies to deliver on their “guarantees” of delivery for tickets.

And the Olympics are not alone in drawing “bad characters”.  The National Football League posted the following statement on their website prior to Super Bowl XLII: “The demand for tickets to Super Bowl XLII greatly exceeds our ability to accommodate the majority of our fans interested in attending. Most legitimate tickets are made available through the two teams competing in the game…. Remaining tickets for the general public are made available through a random drawing. There is no other means for the general public to purchase tickets. The NFL does not sell tickets to travel or ticket agents.”  That last line of the statement reveals your danger in purchasing from entities outside of NFL On Location – the tickets destined for you and your group will have to be acquired through the secondary market and inherently carry danger of non-delivery as was experienced in Beijing by well meaning and criminal promoters of the event.

By purchasing your tickets through NFL On Location, Derby Experiences, and Breeders’ Cup Experiences through QuintEvents you are working directly with the source and thus eliminating risk of non-delivery.  All of our offerings come with:

  • Peace of Mind – Your package will be delivered weeks in advance of the event from the source, as promised.
  • Unique Value – All these packages come with exclusive hospitality, block seating options, official gifts, and more.
  • The Quint Difference – a market leader that’s earned the trust of the NFL, Churchill Downs, and The Breeders’ Cup World Championships.  Those relationships, along with our full service travel capabilities, industry experience, and integrity work to create your “ultimate experience” every time.

Quint Fun Facts

The Eagles will be performing in Tampa and Orlando during Super Bowl Week.  These concerts are a terrific opportunity for entertaining clients in the nights leading up to Super Bowl XLIII, and Quint has some fantastic seating and suite options.

  1. Released in 1976, The Eagles “Their Greatest Hits” album has sold over 41 million copies.  Only Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” (108 million), AC/DC “Back in Black” (42 million), and Whitney Houston “The Bodyguard”(42 million…I’m serious) stand before them.
  2. The original lead guitarist of the Eagles was Bernie Leadon, eventually replaced by Joe Walsh.  No truth to the rumor Bernie joined Pete Best on the “Questionable Career Decisions” tour.
  3. Don Henley had been lead vocal on 34 of The Eagles tracks.  He is the wind beneath their wings…my apologies.
